North East Energy Sector Careers Toolkit – Low Carbon Heat

Useful resources for Careers Leaders

At present, 86% of homes across the UK, use natural gas for their heating. As a fossil fuel, this is one of the key contributors to the high levels of greenhouse gases being emitted into the atmosphere. If the UK is to achieve it’s target of reaching net-zero by 2050, it needs to find an effective solution to one of the most difficult challenges, which is de-carbonise the heat supplied to homes and businesses across the country. The North East is well positioned to make a huge contribution to the UK’s net-zero target and is on its way to becoming the UK’s first cluster for low carbon heat innovation, supply chain and delivery.
